Omicron Phi Zeta HistoryOmicron Phi Zeta Chapter was chartered on March 26, 1994 in Washington, D.C. Since its inception, the Chapter has more than doubled in size. The age range in the chapter starts at 21 years old to 70 years young. Currently, the Chapter plans to serve as sponsor for an undergraduate Chapter at George Washington University and Southeastern University.
Our Chapter provided monetary support to a variety of organizations including SOME (So Others May Eat), D.C. Arc, Grandma's House (Boarder Babies), Project Harvest Food Bank, Mission of Love, United Negro College Fund, March of Dimes and many others. This chapter also gave monetary support to sorors who were flood victims in North Carolina. Money from chapter fundraisers is focused on Scholarship and Community Service programs. Chapter members are working closely with the National Headquarters to launch a dynamic new community service program called Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel through Mind, Body, and Spirit). Z-HOPE is a holistic, multidimensional outreach program. One of the primary goals of Z-HOPE is to enhance, cultivate and empower participants to develop health-promoting lifestyle choices in all stages of their life. Z-HOPE targets five major populations: women; youth; seniors; men; and international women, all while utilizing a life-span approach. It reaches from young to old, from prenatal to geriatric. Each of these target populations will be serviced through a holistic framework that focuses on the three key elements of life: Mind, Body, and Spirit. Z-HOPE will soon be in communities across the Washington Metropolitan Area. Currently, our chapter has life membership in the NAACP and the National Council of Negro Women. Money from chapter fundraisers is focused on Scholarship and Community Service programs.
